Spillian Wedding - Portra 800
Being the type A person that I am, actual film brings up a lot of anxiety when used at weddings. The film might be bad and end up with a variety of development issues, but you rarely know this until after the fact. It might get lost in shipping. It might be damaged in shipping and partially lost. Most who offer it, once they have the developed film back, provide film scans which are putting it back to digital format (so what was the point of the film in the first place?!).
Due to all of these reasons, I've always declined offering film at weddings. The risks are simply too high (for me) when it comes to someones wedding photos. This led me to researching other options and oh did I find the most magical solution! A Fuji digital camera that applies true film emulations in-camera onto the files as you capture them, so they have the look and feel of true film, without the risks I mentioned above. I've been trying it out this year and I'm SO in love and excited to offer this as an add-on to couples who are looking for a wedding day overview of vintage, imperfect, grainy, slightly blurry, and truly in-the-moment photos!
The approach: to keep the photos as true-to-film as possible, the goal is for them to be carefully considered and a moment from each part of the day as is possible. This approach was inspired by a fellow photographer I met at a conference who spoke about their grandparents wedding album and how valuable each photo is because ultimately there are so few, and just the highlights. So, with this Fuji add-on, that is my goal, to carefully consider and memorialize a wedding in a highlight and valuable fashion.
The deliverables for a wedding: Approximately 125 final images in it's own section of your final online gallery, delivered alongside your standard wedding gallery approximately 4 weeks after your wedding date.
